Publisher posted an update in the group Newt Gingrich Discussion My opinion on why Newt stuck around "too long."

I think he was making sure that Santorum did not get a chance to cause a brokered convention. Even when Santorum suspended his campaign, I am guessing Newt realized that Santorum would go right back to being active if he saw any math that led to the path of a brokered convention.

If that is why he did it, I applaud him. We are now in the real race, and this is the race we must win. Romney was not my first choice. Really - Newt was - if he could have truly won. I doubt that Obama would dare debate Newt, so likely Newt would have gone down. Also - Newt's idiosyncrasies are just too odd. There is little doubt to me that Newt would have been defeated by the MSM with all of the stuff about his past, current wife, jewelry store balances, cruises. (Of course none of that compares to Obama's massive expenses with wife/daughters vacations.).

I think Santorum would not have gone well for any of us. I saw him as someone that had beliefs that just went over the line in several areas. While he has tremendous morals and great personal character, the moderates and the left saw him (or painted him, I should say) as someone that would impose his Christian morality on them. Of course I have no problem with that, but they would likely have turned this into an election on his religion.

I am amazed that Romney has taken the ball off of his being Mormon, and put it on Obama's incompetence and the economy.

I like Ron Paul much better now than in years past. I really could not get over him and his lack of support for Bush's foreign policy. Now that Obama has essentially ruined any gains we have made, Ron Paul is closer to where most Republicans are. His son would make a great VP choice, and will likely run for President SUCCESSFULLY one day. (That means WIN!)

Obama is showing a lack of character.

Guess what: Obama did not RISK HIS LIFE getting Osama Bin Laden. Seal Team 6 did. He should not try to push how hard the decision was. He screwed up on many drone attacks in Pakistan, and this was not going to doom his presidency. Only rational thinking can doom obama's presidency. Hopefully we get some of that.

Just like it doesn't matter that Obama is President, if it was ANY democrat, we would be searching to find the same junk on him. And it is likely Democrats will do the same for Romney if he is elected, like they did with George W. Bottom line: Republicans and Democrats will refuse to entertain any positive thoughts about the "other guy". It doesn't matter who the individual is, even though it should. This is messed up.

He was referring to the fact that his wife could not stay at home with his children. Of course she could because Obama was making mega bucks compared to the average American household. He just wants to incite class warfare. Now, of course, he is back pedaling, saying spouses should not be criticized. Its disgusting the way he feels the need to personalize everything. Another example, "If I had a son, he would have looked like Trayvon". So what, looks are not the issue.

I am talking of the George Zimmerman case where unfortunately being half-white by birth is something that makes everyone else angry.

His lawyer said:
He’s hiding out from people who are trying to kill him,” Sonner told Morgan about his client, arguing that the police “don’t always make an arrest right away” and the only reason the courts have yet to dispense justice is “because not all of the facts of that night have come out.” Sonner continued to arguing that “there’s been no justice for George Zimmerman,” as he has been “tried and convicted in the court of public opinion based on facts that are not even true.” Sonner argued as a “fact” that Zimmerman was “beaten on the ground” before shooting.

Publisher posted an update in the group Romney Supporters I have been for Romney for a couple of months now. I tried to bite my tongue every time Santorum said anything I did not like. My wife was a strong Santorum supporter until maybe a month ago. Glad she came around.

Romney is likely it unless some secret life comes out. Maybe he was born in the old Soviet Union and he is our Manchurian candidate? Unlikely, of course.

I think he can beat Obama. I think the important thing now is to get the right VEEP choice. He cannot pick a middle-of-the-roader. He needs to go right. I like Marco Rubio.

About Marco Rubio and hispanics I know:

I don't know Rubio, but I am from South Texas. My mother in-law is a naturalized Salvadorian who came to the US legally and got married (also legally!) while in college. My wife is her daughter.

She is a die-hard Republican and has ALWAYS BEEN. She knows how socialism creeps in and turns into communism. She understands how people get whipped up into a frenzy against those "with all of the money and land."

There are others like her. I used to sell tv, radio and newspaper advertising in Corpus Christi and San Antonio. I dealt with many hispanic business owners who love capitalism. They would rant to me how I was WRONG about Jimmy Carter. (Remember - I voted for all Dems until Clinton's second term. Then I was "reformed.") The would tell me how the Dems were really just trying to take control of everything so they could further sink the country, and enable some American version of Socialism.

My point: There are many hispanics that know of people like Hugo Chavez, and they hear about the abuses of power in Mexico, Central America and South America. They know people who died. Many had family members who died.

My mother in-law tells the story of dating someone before coming to the US. He invited her to some kind of left wing rally. She did not go. He did. He died there that day.

We need the conservative hispanics. They do exist, and they will go with Rubio.

Good luck to us all!
